Welcome to my site! My name is Lauren Nixon. This June I graduated from Western Oregon University with my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. Now with my diploma and teaching licence in hand, I look optimistically into the future hoping for job opportunities. I am currently beginning my Masters in Education: Information Technology in order to bring engaging technology integration into my classroom.
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature. It is my goal as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential emotionally, intellectually and socially by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites sharing of ideas.
There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing a safe and supportive environment:
(1) the teacher acting as a guide
(2) allowing the child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning,
(3) promoting respect for all things and all people.
