Teaching Experience

Mt. View Elementary School

This school is located in Corvallis, Oregon and is in a semi-rural setting. I spent over a year as a student teacher at Mt.View Elementary. During that time I taught in a 2nd grade class and 4th/5th blended class.

2nd Grade

• Student taught for 9 months
• Taught:
  • Mini work sample: How to Read a Map
  • 12 lesson work sample: Geometry

4th/5th Grade Blend

• Student taught for 3 months
• Solo taught for 3 weeks:
  • In charge of the daily running of the classroom
  • planned and implemented units for literacy, social studies, and math
• Taught:Helped develop a recycling program for the school
  • 10 lesson work sample on variables (scientific inquiry)

Upward Bound-Southwestern Oregon Community College

Upward Bound is a wonderful program for high school students who are potential first generation college graduates. I was lucky to be apart of the program as a resident assistant for their summer academy, in which students spent six weeks in the summer  attending college classes and living in the dorms. At the end of the summer academy the students earned college credit and a scholarship.
